Words as Characters Series
I'm on a word of the day email list and, man oh man, some words really sound like YA novel character names.
Book 1
Book 2
Thanks to my mother, the world’s greatest second grade teacher, visible thinking has always been an important part of my life. However, I don’t think she expected me to take it this far when I created “The Little Book of Big Words.” I have the pleasure of being a big nerd, particularly in the writing and animation genre of life. Over the lockdown, I compiled a series of interesting words and turned them into characters, which I then turned into books. Katherine Worden, friend of mine from high school, purchased my book, and reached out to me soon after with a brilliant idea.
Katherine teaches 6th graders at Cummings Elementary. She created a lesson plan based on my artwork, and asked if I could make a video for her class explaining my design process. Being flattered as heck, of course I jumped at the opportunity!
The lesson went splendidly! As Katherine sent me her students’ awesome artwork, I could feel my head triple in size. Is there a greater honor for an artist than inspiring kids to draw? THIS IS THE COOLEST EXPERIENCE EVER!! These kids really made this project their own and I couldn’t be prouder!
Inimitable - So good or unusual as to be impossible to copy; unique.
